Designed as a general-purpose machine gun (GPMG),
the M60 line of gas operated, belt fed, air cooled machine
guns were introduced to replace the US Military’s Browning
Automatic Rifle (BAR) and the Browning 1919 which saw
extensive use throughout World War II. Chambered in
7.62x51 NATO, the M60 was intended to fill both the squad
automatic weapon role of the BAR and the medium machine
gun role of the Browning 1919.
The M60E4 or more commonly known as the MK43 Mod 0 is
an improved model of the M60 which is primarily in use as a
specialized weapon by the US Navy and was developed for
the Navy SEALs. Featuring a shorter assault barrel, forward
grip, and various weight reduction modifications; the slimed
down and lightened MK43 allows the originally crew operated
M60 to be carried by a single operator allowing for rapid
deployment and moderate maneuverability even in tight spaces.
VFC has done an outstanding job recreating this iconic machine
gun and no expenses were spared when it comes to the level
of detail right down to the actual roll marks and serial numbers
pressed into the metal rather than laser etched. This heavy duty
replica is quite possibly the most accurate M60 in the airsoft i
ndustry; combined with VFC’s typical high standard for airsoft
externals, this will be a highly sought after unique collectors piece.
