It was put to use in very limited \u003cbr\u003e\r\nnumbers in Vietnam by members of the United States \u003cbr\u003e\r\nNavy SEALs and several law enforcement agencies at \u003cbr\u003e\r\nthe time. A revolutionary modular design, it could be \u003cbr\u003e\r\nconfigured in lighter assault rifle, light machine gun, lighter \u003cbr\u003e\r\nor heavier barrel, short commando and other variants. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nIt was ultimately deemed too complex and phased out by\u003cbr\u003e\r\nthe 1980s (in favor of the M16 \/ M4 \/ M249 combo).\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003c\/span\u003e\r\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"\u003eMade of a blend of metals and polymer, the weapon has \u003cbr\u003e\r\nexcellent heft and balance without being too unwieldy. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nIt uses a version 2 type gearbox with 8mm bearings and\u003cbr\u003e\r\na G\u0026amp;P M120 high speed motor. It uses a 440mm long inner \u003cbr\u003e\r\nbarrel putting it about midway between an M4A1 and M16.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\r\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"\u003eThe included box magazine holds 1200 BBs which is less\u003cbr\u003e\r\nthan most MG boxes in airsoft (typically 2500-4000 ) but is \u003cbr\u003e\r\nstill more than enough ammo for support use and is \u003cbr\u003e\r\nsignificatly easier to use unlike the much bulkier larger \u003cbr\u003e\r\nboxes found on M249s or M60s.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\r\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"\u003eDespite its obvious machine gun orientation, the weapon is \u003cbr\u003e\r\nselect-fire between semi and full-auto making it more flexible \u003cbr\u003e\r\nfor use in skirmishing depending on whether you need to \u003cbr\u003e\r\nconserve ammo, reserve firepower or lay down suppression fire.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\r\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"\u003eThe battery connection is rear wired in the stock somewhat \u003cbr\u003e\r\nsimilar to classic M16 AEG setup. As such, its large capacity \u003cbr\u003e\r\nstorage allows it to take anything up to and including a\u003cbr\u003e\r\n10.8v 4400mAh NiCad battery (battery not included) or\u003cbr\u003e\r\nsimilar Li-Po.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\r\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"\u003eGiven the extreme rarity of the real steel,\u003cbr\u003e\r\nonly about 400 where made, this is not only cheaper but easier \u003cbr\u003e\r\nto get your hands on.
