XM177 E2 Vietnam Style Kestrel™ ETU AEG Grey Version w. M203 Grenade Launcher by E&C

Based on the US Army's request for a short compact version of the M16 assault rifle, Colt developed the CAR-15 XM177 and
CAR-15 Commando models in 1966.
In 1967, in response to field testing, Colt lengthened the barrel of the Commando to reduce noise and flash.
This version was called the Model 629.
In April 1967, the Army purchased 510 of these weapons for use by units assigned to the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam Studies
and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) and designated them XM177E2.
